The President is largely responsible for negotiating treaties and conducting diplomacy. It’s fundamental to the job. What the rest of the world thinks of the President matters, and while it isn’t necessary for everyone to like us, I would hope that our closest allies see the President in a positive, or at least neutral, or at least not Sauron-like evil way.
Initially, I worried that it would be difficult to come up with things to post to this blog. What if Trump had decided to just go golfing all the time, instead of being president? It turns out that I need not have worried. In the first two weeks there have been enough awful things to keep me going for months.
